Car crashes into home following high-speed chase

PAXTANG, Pa. (WHTM) - Officials say a car crashed into a home at 30th and Derry streets in Paxtang following a high-speed chase. A Capitol Police officer saw a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of 4th and Chestnut streets at around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, authorities reported. According to police, the officer tried to stop the vehicle, and the driver proceeded to flee through the city recklessly and at high speeds, crossing the Walnut Street Bridge in the process. The car then crashed into a home on the 3000 block of Derry Street. Police said three occupants fled the scene. Officers pursued them, and they were able to catch one. That suspect resisted arrest, and officers had to use a taser to subdue him. The other two vehicle occupants are still at large. Police identified the suspect in custody as 23-year-old Vernon King, Junior. He was charged with possession of drugs and resisting arrest. Officials said he was not the driver; the car operator and another passenger are still being sought. Authorities said King already had warrants in his name. He is now at Dauphin County Booking Center.
